Mexican
Soho
Meat eaters have always been faced with an ethical dilemma. It never seems right that other animals should suffer on their way to my plate, but it's impossible to tell where many restaurants source their ingredients from. Despite having no qualms at all about eating meat, most people in the UK genuinely care about the welfare of the animals as demonstrated by the rise in free range and organic ranges in supermarkets.
Chipotle Mexican grill is somewhere you can get a meal with a clear conscience though, their ethos is all about food with integrity with premium quality ingredients from local sources. This includes Freedom Foods chicken, pork, from free-range pigs reared on farms that offer large acre paddocks where the animals can roam freely, and beef from Farm Assured British Farms where cattle are reared in humane conditions.
Happy with their ethics? Then let’s get started on just how tasty the food is...
The emphasis at Chipotle is on Mexican street food such as burritos, tacos and salads, which are all constructed fresh to order. Combinations could include succulent chicken, delicious shredded steak or mouth-watering pulled pork, alongside either white or brown rice, plus either refried beans or pinto beans. Top off your creation with salsa (as hot or mild as you like), lettuce, cheese, sour cream and guacamole. Apparently there is over 60,000 potential combinations, but we didn't stop to count. We sampled a spicy steak burrito and we can't recommend it enough, The beef was marinaded in a delicious sauce with flavour permeating right through it. It's deceptively filling too, this is a rather filling meal on its own!
The recently opened Wardour Street branch is their third in London after Baker Street and Charing Cross Road, which opened two years ago. The brand originated in Colorado nearly 20 years ago and now Chipotle has an empire of over 1,300 stores, so it's about time they made it to these shores and about time you checked them out!
